Review of Victoria & Abdul (2017) by Darwin P — 29 Sep 2017
Judi Dench is excellent and a joy to watch but the movie is only so-so. Ali Fazal doesn't have a 'showcase' moment and though the movie is based on a journal by Abdul, 'found' in 2010, almost 100 years after his death he is too good, too perfect to add any drama to the movie.
It is mainly worth seeing for Dench's artistry.
