Victor/Victoria is one of my favorite musicals. Once again Julie andrews pipes make the musical numbers in this movie a pleasure to listen to. I also found her performance as a starving vocalist believeable.

I recall a time years ago when critics were complaining that Julie andrews roll should have been played by a man. And, I just wanted to reach through my TV and slap the critic who said it. What a moron!

DUH! It is a movie about a woman who is at the end of her rope, with amazing talent, who goes to auditions only to get shot down. She meets a gay man who comes up with the idea to make her a female impersonator, hoping that nobody will discover that she is really a woman. It is a movie about a woman preteneding to be a man, pretending to be a woman. not a female impersonator...as the critic seemed to believe.

At any rate, the movie had great charactors. "norma" was probably the most fun Charactor on the show. And, Robert Preston was great as the Gay entertainer that discovers and befriends Andrews, and turns her into a star.

James Garner was also great as "King Marshan" The supposed gangster type, who falls in love with Andrews, yet he is still unsure that she is a woman without seeing for himself.

There are some gags in the movie, but, most of it was just entertaining, and a great Story. And, the ending where Preston takes over Andrews show makes me laugh every time I see it. He looks just dreadful in drag! LOL!!!
