Review of Vice (2018) by John R — 05 Jan 2019
This movie is creative; however, they takes too many liberties to reenforce the narrative former Vice President Dick Cheney is a villain. The film makes a point in the first part of the movie to make Dick seem like the every day man who came from humble circumstances. Yet, by the end of the movie, he's a villain who purposefully shoots friends in the face just for the heck of it. The characterization of Dick Cheney is all over the place, and it's just wrong how inaccurately protray the relationship between Dick Cheney's two daughters. This movie gives a good behind-the-scenes look at many historical events, but they are so wrongly told it, takes away from the story. This movie is clearly focused on creating a false narrative and not telling the whole truth. Aside from this, it's an okay movie.
Bottom line: Christian Bale's performance is outstanding, he'll get an Oscar nomination for sure, but if you're looking for a historically accurate bio pic, this is not it.
