Review of Vice (2018) by Michael L — 08 Jan 2019
While I think movies like this are risky because people come into them with a little bit of a pre-conceived bias, I liked this movie for two big reasons, the digging deeper into who Cheney is as a person and the larger picture of what was happening during that time that many folks did not see or hear about...or connect the dots on.
I thought it absolutely succeeded in showing us a side of Dick Cheney that helps us understand a bit more about the man and his drive. Not to say I agree with it, it does help fill in the blanks a bit on the mystery that is Dick Cheney.
Likewise, I felt the tying together key elements of the complex geo-political landscape of the time was excellent. I have equated this movie a bit to "W" with Josh Brolin.
If you go into it and set aside your political leanings and let it come in, I think you walk away with a better picture of the situation at that time as well as the man behind the scenes of government during some of the most troubling times for our nation.
