Review of Vice (2018) by Ss S — 25 Dec 2018
My feelings and thoughts regarding Vice are overwhelming and hard to summarize. I was initially going to wait to post a proper and comprehensive review...however, the extreme partisanship/bias/negative agenda/ smear campaign to sink this movie is motivating me to quickly post a rating/review because this film deserves a favorable percentage. Tons of people appreciate and respect this provocatively profound polemic...and I feel the current rating is not reflecting that. We know what sort of trolls, acolytes are giving this film bad ratings.
This film explores the unitary executive theory being exploited and abused more so than any other feature film in American history ( excluding documentaries).
Vice is didactic, intelligent, and deeply unsettling because it analyzes some hardcore truths. Christian Bales give the best performance of his career. Amy Adams also gives a masterclass sensational display of acting. The entire ensemble was impressive. Adam McKay is one of the most prolific directors of our time and I hope he receives an Oscar nomination for directing and writing. Vice has more substance and complexity than 80% of the acclaimed movies released in 2018. It would probably take numerous analytical essays for me to properly dissect the movie with adequacy.
This is an incredible film. Don't conflate your disdain for the subject matter with the quality of the film.
