Review of Vice (2018) by Nancy R — 26 Dec 2018
I was anxiously awaiting the release of this movie, yet was truly disappointed. I'm "moderately liberal" - can't stand Trump but not quite on the Sanders bandwagon either - hence I don't consider this review to be based on a partisan opinion.
Regardless of one's political leanings, this movie is plain and simply POORLY & EMBARRASSINGLY produced!! Don't get me wrong...Christian Bale's portrayal of Dick Cheney is superb. But the rest of the movie fails to live up to his performance.
The annoying narration throughout is only eclipsed by the sophomoric ("Batman" - TV version) style of captioning with inane and obvious "messages" that are literally displayed in black & white captions to the audience (whom I'm assuming the producer has perceived to be too dense to perceive).
Add that to a disjointed timeline which hops back and forth (realize that I actually LIKE some TV productions in that style like "This is Us" or "A Million Little Things"), and It's just annoying to watch.
PURE DISAPPOINTMENT.
