In what seemed to be film criticism's most controversial film of the year, Vice was an absolute gem for me. Going into Vice as a political junkie, however, I recognize that bias - and how Vice could be abrasive for someone who is not-so entertained by American politics.
Outside of the lore of the Bush administration, however, Adam McKay directs and writes one of the great films of 2018, with a strong supporting cast led by the legendary Christian Bale. Steve Carell and Sam Rockwell provide incredible supporting performances as well, particularly for those with an interest in American politics.
The film moves at a unique pace, however, and it is one that I could see upsetting some film critics. Overall, Vice outperforms its risks, and delivers one of the greatest movies about American politics to ever hit Hollywood.
