I loved "The Big Short," but the condescendingly smug pedantic nature of this film made it a miserable watch. No, Mr. McKay, you are not the one and only master intellect who recognizes the deadly precedent that Cheney's power grab set.

The heavy-handed fly fishing and Shakespearean metaphors are neither that clever nor as insightful as the filmmakers think they are. I was hoping to see a smart satire about a figure that hasn't been explored.

The continual wink-wink/nod-nod cheesiness combined with its arrogant self-satisfaction gets in the way of that story. If only Vice was as impressive as the filmmakers view themselves as it would be much more successful.
