Review of Vertigo (1958) by Kenneth B — 24 Oct 2012
This is one of Hitchcock's finest films and it's fitting that it should have recently topped Sight and Sound's Critics Poll. It is one of the best films ever made. It has a surreal, brooding quality and it demands repeat viewings.
Vertigo is one of Hitchcock's most intricate pieces of work, so much so that it took two or three viewings to ever really appreciate it. Amazingly I think I do prefer Rear Window this time around although it's a close call.
