I was privileged to see this at the NYC premiere. It is an excellent take on the tv show and a very good jumping off point for any further efforts in the franchise. It is definitely a love letter to the fans.
However, I also believe that the mystery can and will hold the attention of new viewers as well. The dialogue is, as always, snappy and, at times, laugh out loud funny whether you've seen the show or not.
I look forward to taking my non-fan friends to see the movie this weekend.
