Review of Veronica Mars (2014) by Raji K — 01 Jul 2014
The show Veronica Mars was cancelled after 3 seasons, and the n ended in an anti-climatic finale. Through popular demand and a record breaking kick starter project, the film Veronica Mars was made. Taking place 10 years later, we find shes moved out of Neptune to be in New York, shes about to graduate law school and still with her boyfriend from season 3.
A murder investigation involving her ex-boyfriend Logan and a high school reunion bring her back to Neptune and back up to her old PI tricks. The movie for sure was a bit formulaic and hashed together and does not have some of the wit and charm of the series.
The return of other characters was more of a courtesy. but most of them do not offer plot advancement. Fans of the series will be glad to see Bell back as Mars, non-fans of the show will not enjoy this.
Overall Mars peaked at season 1 and got progressively worse through seasons 2, 3 and this film to failed to rekindle that magic.
