Review of Veronica Guerin (2003) by Ld P — 13 Sep 2009
Veronica Guerin (2003) I rented this because it was a thriller and a Joel Schumacher movie. We know what the end of the movie is in the first 5 minutes as she is murdered and the entire movie is a flashback to let us know how and why it happened.
She was investigating drugs and drug dealers in the Irish Republic. This is a well made movie but to was not "gripping" as a thriller should be. It is more a slow story of horror as her ego and her obsessiveness for one story get her in trouble and then murdered.
Her death did spawn many reforms on drug dealing in Ireland. ok movie I give this film a mildly favorable recommendation Its empty (hollow -) and scene after scene follow (unfold) without passion or imagination.
This films perspective is just not hard hitting enough to be compelling. three stars.
