Review of Vera Drake (2004) by Lynne N — 31 Oct 2006

I was cautious about seeing this film as I expected it to be a feature length advertisement for pro-choice, so I was pleasantly surprised that the film didn't actually ever land on either side of the fence in the abortion debate.

It simply told the story of a well-meaning woman and her family. There were some light moments to be found and the characters were very well drawn. The performances were fantastic and a very touchy subject was dealt with in a subtle and compassionate way.
