Maybe I just don't get it..I don't know. But I sort of wish that Christian Bale's story wouldn't have been in it at all, because they hardly gave it any time. And when they did show a bit of it, it seemed to come out of nowhere and be completely disconnected from Brian's story.
The whole thing just didn't make sense.
