Review of Velvet Goldmine (1998) by Rebecca E — 01 Sep 2009
This would be a perfect movie to the right audience. About glam rock in the 70s and sexual expression. If you wanna see gorgeous guys glammed up and making out, this is for you. It had some really great visuals and music.
It follows a reporter as he interviews several ppl who were involved with a hugely popular glam rock singer for the tenth anniversary of his most memorable concert. We follow them through their stories as well as the reporter through his memories as a young fan.
It really wasnt what I thought it would be. There was a lot more substance than I expected. Since its a really strange movie that can be mistaken for a really long music video, its had to recognize the story.
With additional viewings, or help from online fans, you can recognize all the ppl struggling to find where they belong. Some succeed, some dont. Although the ending wasnt what I thought I wanted, it was better.
