Definitely not a waste of my time. Velvet Goldmine provides a lot of food for thought, I guess, on the way it presents itself to us, the characters and their narratives. It was good enough that I always forget about the absurd opening scene where it's implied Oscar Wilde was an alien.
However, with little quirks like that weeded out, it could've been a lot better.
