Review of Vantage Point (2008) by Miguel P — 04 Feb 2010
When I saw the preview of this film it looked great. I wanted to see it in the movies. I couldn't go because of work. Thank god for work.
The plot is a group does a assassination attempt on the President of the United States and the secret service agents trying to find them. The event is seen by eight different people. The main problem it's the rewinding of the points of view. I like the idea but don't like the fact that I have to see the same guy run to a street over and over again. It was too much. For a premise like that the director Pete Travis needed to find a coherent storytelling structure. The movie looks great and the action sequences are cool, but every thing leading to that is just plain annoying.
The acting I have to say it's not that great. I liked ony two performances. Matthew Fox and Forest Whitaker. A decent premise ruined by bad storytelling.
MP ** 2/5.
