Review of Vanishing Point (1971) by Brod J — 16 Dec 2007
Not to be confused with the 1997 remake of the same name (which was shite by the way), this movie set the precedent for the car chase meets road movie (genre?).
Obvious parallels can be drawn between this and Easy Rider with the representation of a changing western culture and the anti-establishment sensibilities. This film should go down with equal if not greater historical significance. Something else to note is the use of a radio DJ as a narrator/commentator - a device revisited in another cult classic - The Warriors (1979).
