Review of Vanilla Sky (2001) by Angel G — 25 Dec 2012
Confusing, but completely engrossing and satisfying film. It's one of those movies where you just have to see it again, or just search your answers. Tom Cruise's performance is superb, never had I scene I didn't like, very different from his other roles, and he succeeds greatly in the title role (reminded me of a Jack Nicholson crazy character of his).
However, Cameron Diaz steals the show, her performance was thought-provoking and fantastic, she had the sensuality and crazy that I didn't think she had in her, which made her character a beautiful nightmare, in every good way.
There is no denying the movie had a lot of genres, you got romance, thriller, sic-fi, suspense, drama and eroticism, so it was hard to know what it wanted to be..but ultimately it is a sic-fi drama thriller, thats what I think.
Great directing, a very interesting story, amazing cinematography, smooth editing, fantastic performances from the whole cast, including an Oscar-snub Cameron Diaz, but it's a confusing movie that leaves you with questions if you don't focus on small details from the movie, but overall entertaining and great movie.
