Review of Van Helsing (2004) by Ryan V — 12 Jan 2014
Produced by the same crew who made those awful Mummy movies, Van Helsing is a vacuous pastiche of the classic 1930's Universal horror films. Hugh Jackman plays the title role, a adventure hero who is summoned to combat the machinations of Dracula (Richard Roxburgh).
The terrible dialogue and simplistic plot serve mostly as a rickety frame for the dull and repetitive action scenes. It doesn't help that everything is drenched in unimaginative CGI either.
