Review of Vampyros Lesbos (1971) by Elena . — 23 Aug 2007
A delightful play on the myth of Narcissus with an erotic twist. Lesbian vampires surprisingly well bring out the psychology behind Narcissus' lust for himself as well as the interesting concept of identity fusion (the vampire and her victim becoming one) as being potently erotic.
The low budget takes its toll on the film, the plot is awkwardly stretched and developed at times, but it's worth watching for the experience of Soledad Miranda gazing lovingly and lustily at her reflection in the mirror.
Vampyros Lesbos is one of those films that can truly be called an acquired taste.
