Review of Valley of the Dolls (1967) by Jessica E — 28 Jul 2007
"I have to get up at 5 in the morning and SPARKLE, Neely, SPARKLE!".
My favourite camp movie, for sure...although I also appreciate it for what it was originally conceived to be, which was a drama about the reality of Hollywood pill-popping. Of course, knowing what we know today about stars' behaviour, the movie barely scratches the surface. I don't care how bad people say it is, I will always consider it to be one of my all-time favourites. Sharon Tate's second-best performance in her short career, and the most seamless performance in this movie.
