Review of Valkyrie (2008) by Hrant B — 23 Sep 2010
In "Livng in Oblivion" James LeGros stars as a Brad Pittish character who stymies the director, played hilariously by Steve Buscemi over his acting decisions. One of the most memorable ones is when he steals an eye patch from a crew member and decides his character in the movie will have one, even though it's not really needed.
Well guess what? That scene IMMEDIATELY popped into my head when I was watching Der Tom Cruise playing, yes, a guy with an eye patch trying to stage a coup to topple Adolph Hitler and the 3rd Reich. It's just a wee bit too much range for old Tom I'm afraid.
The story itself is great, it takes a while to get going though, with tiny little mechansms in the plot is shown to get the big one going, and once that gets going, it's riveting. Der Tom is flanked by an amazing cast, almost too amazing to be in such a great story like this and yet play secondary to Der Tom (Yes, I'm speaking to you Kenneth Branagh).
I would reccomend this, if I havent made it abundantly clear, for the interesting story, and not for the guy I mentioned 20 times already.
