Review of Valkyrie (2008) by Aryan A — 29 Jul 2011
Dodgy accents and slightly melodramatic, hollow scripting aside, this is fairly acceptable stuff from SInger and Co. It spends it's budget on stylish moments of elaborate slow-mo's and a rather unused but beefy cast, and often things just fall in on themselves - particularly when Singer opts to throw away vital details in exchange for violent explosions or silly lines, however, he can definitely create tension and excitement - especially evident in the later scenes when all hell breaks loose.
All-in-all then, this is an acceptable and sometimes enjoyable romp in familiar territory that basically succeeds despite it's obvious lack of sophistication.
