Review of Valkyrie (2008) by Ryan V — 17 Dec 2011
A marvelous cast, conspiracy driven intrigue, and a forgotten historical tale of heroism make thus a great film. I will never understand why critics weren't more favorable towards this. Sure, it's not 100% historically accurate, but it shouldn't be.
This isn't a documentary. It's a piece of cinema based on history. And it's one that manages to get enough right and be quite tense, regardless of how we all know the plot to kill Hitler will ultimately play out.
