Review of Valkyrie (2008) by Harvey M — 05 Oct 2013
Well acted and written. But if you're ever expecting Hollywood to be historically accurate for the most instructive insight into the past, it doesn't happen too often, nor does it here. However, Valkyrie does bring to light an assassination attempt on Hitler that is not common knowledge.
And even though it wasn't the only attempt, it does serve the purpose of helping Americans and others see that the Germans knew just how much of a monster Hitler was. Bottom line, this is not a great war movie, and it won't go down as a classic, but for its historical and cinematographic value, it's worth a look.
