Review of Valhalla Rising (2009) by Mark N — 03 May 2012
Extraordinarily stylish take on the lone warrior story that uses the dramatic skies and landscapes of Scotland as a backdrop to great advantage. The limited dialogue, hard cut dream-sequence/premonition scenes and somewhat surreal imagery will turn off many once the initial violent opening ends, but as a low budget exercise it's quiet and achievement.
