Review of Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets (2017) by Maria S — 23 Oct 2017
Awful. To start with CaraDelavine character is nagging Valerian the entire movie. She nags and nags and nags in that nasal voice until you just can not take it. The best parts are silent little inros. They don't last long, but they are visual and cool with just music.
Then we get into the long, boring plot which is a very typical allegory for the refugee crisis( complate with bad guy saying "I put our citizens first, what else could I do?" Sound familiar.
Yep. Maybe if filmmakers spent as much time actually working on a making the screenplay GOOD as they doon making it typically liberal, they would come up with movies that get their point across without being boring.
But this certainly didn't. The characters walk around a lot, and you are just left waiting for the next good part for most of the film.
