Review of Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets (2017) by Scott C — 04 Dec 2017
The opening had lots of promise, loved the history of the station, then off to the Avatar-like peoples with the adorable gem pooping armadillos. Apparently harassment at work takes 1000 steps back as the main character Valerian spends way too much time with his advances on his partner, and comes across like a 15 YO that just discovered his hormones.
You might have to go back to Hayden Christensen to find a worse bit of acting than the performance Dan Dehaan rolled out. Cara Delevingne wasn't too bad considering she hasn't acted much, and, think she will get better over time.
I did appreciate the visual effects. This poor movie is going to take a blood bath in Earnings me thinks based on that $177 Million budget, which was apparently spent on CGI and not the title character.
