Review of Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets (2017) by Cristian B — 07 Mar 2018
The movie is a bit of a mixed bag. On a visual level, director Besson has created one of the most stunning and rich worlds in a movie this year. His sense of creativity and invention are on full display.
What falters the movie is the script. Thanks to some clunky dialogue and a lack of spark between the leads, the movie keeps from reaching the same level as Besson's sci-fi classic THE FIFTH ELEMENT.
That being said, it is still worth seeing on the big screen in 3-D because Besson offers one of the more unique visual experiences you will have at the movies all summer long.
