Review of Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets (2017) by Jordan C — 13 Aug 2017
I was very excited to see this movie, as I love futuristic, space, crazy sci-fi technology movies. All the crazy creatures and battles were done fantastically and looked awesome. The only thing I didn't like about this movie is the male lead, Dane DeHaan. His character is (apparently) some galaxy hoping lady killer, however he did a terrible job of portraying that roll. His acting has me questioning if he's ever gotten laid in his life. His costar, Cara Delevingne, does a great job in her roll as a logical, by-the-books, emotionless government agent, but I think that that's probably one of the easiest types of characters to play in a movie. She won me over with her outward appearance which is nice and easy on the eyes. However there was little chemistry between the actors when it came to any romance scene.
The saving grace of this film, the scene that made me give 3 stars as aposed to 2, is Rihannas stripper poll scene. Hands down was the best part of the movie.
