Review of Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets (2017) by Anthony S — 23 Jul 2017
First rate visual CGI spectacle with all the different alien lifeforms of the planets in the galaxy with the beauty reminiscent a bit of "Avatar", but with a bland script, mediocre dialogue, generic acting, and lack of an interesting storyline to care about the the 2 lead characters definitely weighs down this film. The acting performance of the 2 leads were both adequate to mediocre. Cara Delavigne was ok. She had her moments, but Dane Dehaan was mediocre at best. He came off like a 2nd or even 3rd rate version of Keanu Reeves...and that is not a worthwhile comparison...lol. Also, not enough Clive Owen. His supporting role is pretty small screen time wise.
In the end, this movie is probably worth checking out in the theater for visual spectacle and CGI aspects, but just lower your expectations regarding the storyline, dialogue, and character acting.
