Review of Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets (2017) by Ganglio — 28 Apr 2018
I love this movie. Normally it is a good thing to follow user reviews instead of critics. After having been disappointed with a lot of movies lately (star wars last jedi, guardians of the galaxy vol. 2), this movie is absolute great entertainment. Don't take the movie too seriously (it doesn't take itself too seriously) and you will be in for a good 2 hours. I don't get why star wars the last jedi gets 85 from critics (4.6 from users) and this one 51 (and 6.4 from users). Similar stuff on rotten tomatoes.
The main guy character is not likeable and frankly, a bit dumb. But I think the director is playing with clichées here and I am astonished that the critics didn't get that.
The main plot and what humanity is capable off has still some message. Read Ender series for more similar stuff.
