Review of Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets (2017) by Leo K — 17 Nov 2017
A computer generated orgasm. There is so many effects going on at once, that you end up feeling uninterested at times.
But the universe presented here is absolutely beautiful. The city of a thousand planets, is complex, captivating, and stunning. But the market scene, was just confusing, and seemed a bit silly at times.
The main characters have strong personalities which carry the film well, and the antagonist is neither good, nor evil - as he is simply executing his orders.
I think what's lost here, is the execution, and a stable camera shot, with a LOT of panning, and zooming, and flying around, and no real stable shot at times.
This is a cool movie, with a lot of potential, but there needs to be a toning down of the Jason Bourne-style camera craziness.
