Review of Valentine's Day (2010) by Matthew K — 15 Aug 2013
I liked the film, I admit you are bombarded with cliche after cliche, but it does make you giggle quite a few times. Most parts of the film for me were great, the main focus point was obviously Jennifer Garner and Ashton Kutcher, but all of the other characters adds depth to the story and creates a rich mosaic of love. From little children to older generations, the story covers it in some form or another. Some parts were outlandish and rather strange, like Anne Hathaway's role for example, but it was rather funny, the accents were quite good as well.
I did think that each Taylor -- Swift and Lautner -- didn't really add much to the film, its almost like they were just in it because they are the flavour of the moment, i'm actually surprised that Taylor Lautner kept his shirt on for most of the film after New Moon. Although I do admit they gave another aspect of love in todays society, the really loved up teens.
The jumping from story to story was sometimes a little too much to handle, but overall I think Garry Marshall pulled it off. Great film for Valentine's Day.
