Review of Vagabond (2015) by Cate H — 13 Mar 2008
Some people watch movies to be dazzled by special effects, others to laugh, others simply to escape their own lives for 2 hours. I watch hoping to connect to people I might never have the opportunity to meet in my own life.
Vagabond is a gift in that regard, a fragile poem dedicated to the drifters of the world inspired by Agnes Varda's own firsthand experience with young women like her protagonist, seen through the eyes of the many bystanders "Mona" meets along the way.
Like its unlikely protagonist, this special film is one of a kind.
