Review of Vacancy (1999) by Michael W — 27 Jan 2012
Vacancy is scary for the viewer can see the movie actually happening. A couple gets lost on the off road and stay at a hotel which traps its guests and terrorizes them. The movie is more realistic than Jason, Freddy or Scream with the unkillable bad guys.
The story is a bit of a stretch, but I like how Luke Wilson figures out the scum bags tricks and keep his wits in order to survive. Frank Whaley plays a weirdo perfectly. One has a creepy feeling about the hotel clerk, but the clerk does not show who he is until latter.
Well acted and directed I give Vacancy three stars.
