Review of V/H/S/2 (2013) by Frank D — 27 Sep 2013
I have to say I wasn't a fan of the original V/H/S. Two of the short stories were ok but the clips were short enough that it didn't make a lasting impression on me (the man eater girl in the motel room with the alien face and the weird entities in the woods) but the original was all over the place and really hard to watch with everything jumping all over the place and barley any plot line holding it all together.
The stories were also incredibly short in the original V/H/S. I have to say V/H/S 2 was 10 x better, if you enjoyed the first one you will love the second one. It did something many sequels fail to do; make it more interesting and improve, it's like they learned from the first movie; changed it up a bit; There is still the gimmick handheld camera first person thing going on during the V/H/S tapes playing but the image is clearer and not cutting out and fuzzy camera lenses like they did in the first which make it more enjoyable to watch.
They also extended the stories in V/H/S 2; unlike the first one which seemed to just throw a bunch of clips together that didn't seem to go anywhere. I loved the zombie story the best in V/H/S 2. Lots of eerie, uneasy, uncomfortable scenes, unpredictable and bizarre! Aliens! Zombies! A Chinese devil cult! An eye implant that makes you see ghosts!
