Review of V/H/S/2 (2013) by Josh B — 17 Dec 2014
V/H/S was one of the best surprises of last year, consistently terrific and creepy to the extreme. V/H/S 2 takes a more "fast and loose" approach to the material, giving us four vastly different stories that are also differing in quality.
"Safe Haven" is easily the best of the bunch, a short I would love to watch as a full-length movie. The other three shorts range from decent to great, which just happens to fall a bit under expectations.
V/H/S 2 isn't as good as the first film, but did anyone expect it to be? If you measure each short on their own merits, V/H/S 2 is still quite solid, delivering some great indie horror the likes of which you will never find at your local theater.
For the most part, this is a fun and energetic sequel, more fast-paced than the first but with less of the bite. Bring on a third installment!
