Review of V for Vendetta (2006) by Zelyaine T — 25 Dec 2012
Finally getting to see it, I actually couldn't understand what any of the hype was about for this movie. It was technically well done, and I did like the mass effect of the final scene, along with lots of other effects and cinematography.
However, with the exception of the last quarter of the movie, the ideas and some of the plot are practically copies from Orwell's 1984 (think about the imprisonment, extreme sensoring/manipulation of media, etc.
) I'm not trying to blame anyone about it, but I just feel many don't realize that the setting of VV is not as amazingly or innovatively original as they think. Finally, people seem crazy about the "V speech," but though I also found the text itself impressive, that was one small part of Weaving's acting in this movie that actually didn't sell to me.
You'll dislike me for this, but I found that part annoying.
