Review of V for Vendetta (2006) by Phillip D — 22 Apr 2014
Standing with Cloud Atlas as one of the greatest stand alone movies of film history, V For Vendetta is a political, philosophical and moral masterpiece, challenging perceptions, raising questions and breaking the stereotypical Hollywood molds over and over again while still keeping simpler audiences engaged with surprisingly exhilarating action scenes and a deeply dramatic plot.
As it ends, V will have you believing in things you never thought possible, not to mention considering governmental overthrow. On the cast level, Portman and Weaving combine with a talented supporting cast to complete a total sweep while visual effects, costumes, plot and writing all shine brilliantly, offering stunning shots, fantastic quotes and unforgettable characters.
V For Vendetta is a film epic, an all time classic and one of the Wachowski siblings greatest accomplishments yet. A must see to complete any persons basic great film repertoire.
