Review of V for Vendetta (2006) by Sam F — 17 Mar 2013
"V for Vendetta" is perhaps one of the most impressive political action thriller film I've ever seen. The acting, the music, the script, the cinematography, the production designs. I'm especially amazed that Dario Marianelli, a film composer who is more well-known for his romantic scores, wrote such good action music cues for this movie.
I'm also impressed with how lots of things connect to the letter 'V'. V's cell number, Beethoven's 5th symphony ( V is a roman numeral for 5, and the rhythm of the first four notes of Beethoven's 5th matches that of the Morse code .
.._ which stands for 'V' ), even the number of times the daggers he threw at the soldiers spun in the air. It's basically a film about England under fascist rule and how one man behind a mask ended it.
It's a tale about the immortality and potency of mere ideas. Overall, this film is quite well-produced and well-acted.
