The best way I can go into detail with this film is by talking about the writers of the film: The Wachowski's. If your big into film, you're well aware of their contribution to Hollywood with their really only famous work of art 'The Matrix' and.

..not much else. Well that was if you forget to mention another film while not directing wrote for director James Mcteigue that you might be aware of: V for Vendetta. Now going into this film, I didn't really know or have any expectations since i'm not well aware of it's source material from DC and, like most mainstream audiences, knew it's signature mask and social commentary it contributed.

And honestly after giving this film a shot, what were my thoughts on it? I thought it was pretty damn great. While, sure, not without it's issues in dialogue that, for the Wachowski's isn't much a surprise when you look at what they've been up to since this film, and also in story and pacing I would say the positives in V for Vendetta does deliver with cinematic quality that for a post-Matrix duo could deliver on.

Thanks to: wonderfully made shots and direction by James Mcteigue, a very balanced and also inventive script by the Wachowski's, some good political statements that not without it's silly moments is still provocative and also insightful to it's overall mythos and real-life equivalents, a good lead cast from Natalie Portman and ESPECIALLY Hugo Weaving, a often times slow but well executed pace, great action set pieces and also special effects for 2006, and a well done story that even if not adapted 100% from the comics works on it's own merits overall, I think delivers really well as a film that stands on it's own without being compared to it's source material.

Though sadly, this would be the last time this duo of writers, the Wachowski's, would be able to prove their cinema taste as films like Jupiter Ascending & Cloud Atlas would soon show that they haven't been making well films since.
