Maybe I'm not subtle enough to figure this movie out, but I don't think that was the problem. Too much of the movie wasn't feasible or simply didn't make sense. I left with the impression that aspects of the movie remained unexplained in an effort to grant it the veneer of sophistication, but without any real reasoning, which I found highly annoying.
The horror scenes, the acting, and the dialogue were all good. The story was unique, but the resolution was dissatisfying. I was disappointed with the ending.
