Review of Urban Legends: Final Cut (2000) by Rainer P — 10 Dec 2007
Urban Legends: The Final Cut is indeed the sequel to Urban Legend (I wasn't quite sure initially). It wasn't great, but it might just scrape the lower levels of good. The movie takes place at a film school where the main character is making a movie about a guy who kills people in ways that coincide with urban legends.
The only real tie to the first movie is the campus security chick, who is the hyperactive black girl from the first movie. Anyway, as you've no doubt already guessed, people start getting knocked off, theoretically urban legend-style.
In reality, it's more a killfest with the occasional UL thrown in. You can't really guess who the killer is. The one likely candidate is too likely and they don't really give you ANYTHING to indict the real bad guy.
There are a few good bits of dialog, but not many. The only star you might have heard of is Joey Lawrence--you know, one of that whole clan of kids who look exactly alike that were on Gimme a Break. A standard slasher flick.
