Review of Upgrade (2018) by Robert R — 01 Jun 2018

Aside from its slightly misguided ending, I had an absolute blast with writer/ditector Leigh Whannell's "Upgrade," a ruthless, grimy, and thought-provoking sci-fi actioner with a terrifically multifaceted lead performance from Logan Marshall Green.

For a film with such a small budget, Whannell pinches those pennies as effectively as one would hope, especially for a film set in the -- presumably -- distant future. The production design, the cinematography, the fight choreography; all of it is top notch.

I mean the first action scene alone is worth the price of admission. What a welcomed surprise from everyone involved.
