Review of Upgrade (2018) by Devaughn B — 07 Jun 2018

Wow! What an amazing, fast-paced, action-packed, bloody, and surprisingly funny futuristic sci-fi grindhouse flick. I've been hearing nothing but praise for this film and now I see why! Seriously, this is such an incredible film from Leigh Whannell and Blumhouse, and very small when you think about it. Just like the first Deadpool film, Upgrade cost next to nothing to make, but with such a straightforward, well-written story, every little bit pays off. Even with such a small budget of only $4 million, the effects in this film during the action sequences, or even just the production of the futuristic setting in the background, everything looks absolutely incredible.

Logan Marshall-Green as Grey, he just owns this role and takes this revenge story by storm. Giving an outstanding performance, very emotional, and subtle at times, I was extremely shocked by what I saw from him. There really isn't much more for me to say other than there's a great twist ending you won't see coming, so please check out and support this film. Projects like this are what we definitely need more of out there.
