Upgrade is a futuristic Sci-Fi/Action/Thriller borrowing a few things from Rococop and Blade Runner.

Like almost every Sci-Fi movie Upgrade has problems. The fight scenes are quite entertaining and the cinematography is impressive but it does take thirty minutes to get to the action. Acting is mostly mediocre, the dialogue is weak and some of the scenes are indefinite. The biggest flaw of Upgrade is the underdevelopment of side characters. On the contrary this is a basic revenge movie with a futuristic setting and presentation that make it a bit different. Setting that aside the plot-twist ending was confusing but elaborate and that's why it works. Visual effects are acceptable despite a middling budget. Upgrade is entertaining and violent with a likable leading performance. Speaking of the violence, it's plentiful but not exactly excessive. Would recommend to Sci-Fi/Action lovers.
