In a year full of sequels and reboots, "Upgrade" shines as an entertaining and original piece of work. The story seems simple enough and you almost think it's going to go a certain route, but then the ending comes around and truly leaves you thinking.

I really enjoyed this movie and thought it was a fun and thought-provoking film. The characters are simple and likable and the revenge tale aspect of the movie isn't anything we haven't seen before.

What really makes the movie unique is the setting and a bleak and concerning image of a future where technological advances go awry. The movie reminded me of a series I really like, "Black Mirror," and I feel if you are a fan of that series, you have to check this little movie out.

I also thought the action and fight sequences were handled very well and I was on the edge of my seat throughout all of them. The violence is both shocking yet also very entertaining to watch. It's a bold science fiction movie that is worth checking out if it is playing near you.
