Review of Up in the Air (2009) by Ernst M — 28 Dec 2011
Reitman directs this movie to a perfect blend of drama and comedy, touching on serious dramatic elements while keeping the audience laughing. Bingham is a man who travels constantly, firing people for bosses that do not have the guts to do it themselves.
He prides himself on his lack of personal commitment or relationships, and he even hosts seminars on how to "lighten your load" by caring only for yourself. As the plot unfolds Bingham is forced to question his lifestyle and lack of commitment, and from there the movie "takes off.
" The humor and darker elements aren't for everyone, but the sophisticated story shines for those who can appreciate the film. Not exactly a date night comedy, this movie would be best watched by yourself .
.. your friends might not appreciate it.
